SGIO is urging drivers to stay alert at the wheel as they head into the weekend, with new research revealing motorists are more likely to have a collision towards the end of the week.
SGIO Head of Research, Robert McDonald, said the research is a timely reminder of the importance of paying attention behind the wheel and obeying the road rules.
“As we head into the weekend, drivers may be rushing home from work, hurrying to collect their kids from school or heading away for the weekend and not taking the usual care while driving,” said Mr McDonald.
“Our advice to drivers would be to be patient, allow extra time to travel during peak hours and to adapt to the driving conditions to help ensure a safer journey.”
SGIO found that Sunday is the least common day for driving accidents, with collisions dropping 4 per cent below the weekly average as the week winds down.
