We support a range of Kidsafe road and home safety initiatives.
Through our partnership with Kidsafe (Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Australia), we aim to support parents and carers as they work to improve the safety of their children. In particular, we support Kidsafe's Child Car Restraint hire,
fitting and checking services in WA, QLD and ACT.
New Legislation
This year, the Federal Government has made some changes to the legislation surrounding child restraints in vehicles.
The proposed changes are:
- Children up to 6 months old must be restrained in a rearward facing infant restraint or capsule.
- Children between 6 months and 4 years must use a forward or rear facing child seat with an inbuilt 5 point harness.
- Children between 4 years and 7 years must use either a forward facing child seat with inbuilt harness or a booster seat.
This legislation will be implemented in each state in late 2009 or early 2010.
