SGIO is a member of the Australian Business and Community Network (ABCN).
This network of national business leaders aims to create a positive social change through practical programs that engage students, educators and business people. Established in 2005, the coalition works with schools that have areas of high need to broaden the horizons of students, support educators and engage businesses to build stronger communities.
Did you know?
- Around 30 of our employees volunteered their time each week for a school term at primary schools to assist with student literacy.
- About 20 of our employees mentored Year 9 students considered to be at risk of disengaging from school, aiming to widen their life choices.
How we're helping
Our employees participate in a variety of ABCN programs, for example as mentors and offering literacy support. Programs also link our Senior Managers with School Principals to share experiences, solve problems and explore leadership challenges together. We also provide high school students with work experience opportunities.
